March 2, 2005 ----Moen, Leona Alberta (July 20, 1911 - February 22, 2005) Leona A. Moen, age 93, of Thorp, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley. No services will be held. Leona Alberta Nindorf was born on July 20, 1911 in Neenah, WI, to Albert and Marie (Steinhause) Nindorf. As a small child, Leona and her family moved to Withee, WI, where she attended area schools. She was united in marriage to Chester Moen in September 1930 in Stanley, WI. He later passed away on April 12, 1990. Over the years, Leona worked as a waitress at the Dairy Bar Café and as a sales clerk at the Ben Franklin Store, both in Thorp, until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and had many interests, but she especially enjoyed watching her grandson, Mike, play football for the Kansas City Chiefs on Sundays. She is survived by her two daughters: Shirley (Edward) Maslowski of Thorp, WI and Janice Blume of Paramount, CA; seven grandchildren, sis great-grandchildren and one sister, Lucille Meyer of Chippewa Falls, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester, one brother, Quentin Nindorf; and two sisters Dorothy Walters and Irene Meinholdt. Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
