James A. Pietrzak, age 76, of Colby, formerly of the Town of Withee, died at his home on Tuesday, July 12, 2005.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2005 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. Father Keith Apfelbeck officiated and burial followed in Old St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Thorp American Legion Post #118. Pallbearers were Joe Neisius, Mike Neisius, Don Balslew, Steve O’Neil, Dave Denning and Jeff Pietrzak. Visitation was held at the church, on Saturday, July 16, 2005 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

James Anton Pietrzak was born on July 5, 1929, in the Town of Withee, Clark County, WI, the son of Frank and Frances (Mateski) Pietrzak. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the Withee area, graduating from Withee High School in 1947. He was drafted into the U. s. Army on April 9, 1953 and served during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge on March 24, 1955, Jim moved back to the home farm, where he farmed until 1985. He then went to work for Christensen Farms, where he worked until the time of his death.

Jim loved spending time with his dog Hershey, his family, and had many interests, but especially enjoyed working with livestock, gardening, flowers, and collecting rocks.

He will be sadly missed by four sisters: Hattie Neisius of Owen, WI; Lillian (Frank) O’Neil of Thorp, WI; Mary Denning of Thorp, WI; Caroline (Don) Balslew of Hillside, IL; two brothers: Ted (Arves) Pietrzak of Caledonia, WI; Frank Pietrzak of Rothschild, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Carolyn in infancy.

Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
