(abt 1916 - 19 Oct. 2006) Bernice O. Hoeper OWEN -- Bernice O. (Biddle) Hoeper, 90, of Oak Lawn, Ill., a former Thorp resident, passed away at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, surrounded by her family at her home. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the funeral home. Her final resting place will be in Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Bernice was born the 14th child of Mary E. (Bancroft) and George Biddle. She graduated from Thorp High School and married August C. Hoeper on Dec. 2, 1940. Bernice, whose nickname was Bobby, loved to garden even right up to a week before her death. She also loved to make crosses that were used as bookmarks and give them to anyone she met. Her greatest joy came from visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are two children, David Hoeper and Patty (Hoeper) Williams; five grandchildren, Dawn (Hoeper) Hansen, Kim Williams, Debbie (Hoeper) Pierce, Kari (Williams) Candos and David Hoeper. Also seven great-grandchildren, Cody, Michael, Rebecca, Cole, Matthew, Shane and Madison. She was predeceased by her her husband, August Hoeper; mother, Mary E. (Bancroft) Biddle, and father, George A. Biddle; and seven sisters, Pearl Cooper, Alice Sanders, Ruth Huth, Grace Herman, Sarah Path, Virginia Prock, Katherine Pagel; and five brothers, William, Edward, James, Melvin and Marion Biddle. Attending the funeral from Illinois will be David and Diane Hoeper, Dawn Hansen, Debbie and Mike Pierce, David Hoeper and Chris, Larry and Patty Williams, Kari Candos and John and Sherry Biddle from Indiana. Many relatives from Wisconsin will also be attending. |
