Surnames: MACADAM LANEVILLE PROBST RAYMOND Source: OWEN ENTERPRISE (Owen, Clark County, Wis.) 05/02/1935 MacAdam, Alex (20 JUL 1898 – 28 APR 1935) Funeral services are being conducted this afternoon, from the Congregational Church, for Alex MacAdam, who passed away at his home Monday morning shortly after ten o’clock. The Rev. W.P. Powell, officiated, and burial took place in Riverside Cemetery. Mr. MacAdam was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas MacAdam of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), and was born at Little Prairie, Wis., July 20, 1898. When a young lad he moved with his parents to Owen, where his father managed a creamery for a number of years. Later they moved to Withee, and there he grew to manhood. July 6, 1923, he was united in marriage to Miss Elsie Laneville of Withee, and to this union was born three children, Marett, 9; Robert, 7; and William, 2. Mr. MacAdam for a number of years was engaged as a meat cutter in one of the city’s meat markets, and six years ago decided to enter into the meat business for himself. He purchased one of the going markets, and since that time has been one of the leading merchants of the city, conducting Mac’s Market. He was one of the younger businessmen of the city, and to know him was to like him, and he enjoyed a large acquaintance, all of whom were his friends. In his passing Owen has lost a good businessman, and a friend to all. He leaves to mourn, his wife and three children; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. MacAdam of Withee; two sisters, Mrs. H.A. Probst of Augusta and Mrs. H.P. Raymond of Hilton village, Va.; and one brother, Roscoe, also of Augusta. Among the relatives from out of town attending the services today are: Mr. and Mrs. John Laneville, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd McErn, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Laneville, Withee; Mr. and Mrs. John Laneville Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Laneville, Dodgeville; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Tait, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schuster, Evansville; and Mr. and Mrs. George Martin, Mr. and Mrs. T. MacAdam, Withee; Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Probst and daughter, Betty, and son, Harry Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe MacAdam, Augusta. One sister, Mrs. H.P. Raymond, Hilton Village, Va., was unable to attend. The business places of Owen are remaining closed this afternoon between the hours of two and three o’clock, the hour of the service, in respect of the departed. |
