June 28, 2005 ----McDonald, Gladys Matilda (April 8, 1921 - June 4, 2005) Gladys Matilda McDonald, age 84 years, 1 month, 26 days, of Neillsville, died Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the Memorial Home in Neillsville. Gladys was born April 8, 1921 in Effingham, IL, to the late Lewis Bishop and the late Rose Zella (Haney) Bishop Kinney. She was confirmed April 21, 1935 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gibson City, IL. She was also educated in Gibson City, Illinois. She later married Francis Michael McDonald on January 18, 1941 at St. Elizabeth Church in Thomasboro, IL. They farmed in Illinois for several years, and then moved to a farm near Sparta. Later on they moved to Wood County to farm for a short time before moving to Clark County, where they farmed in the Granton and Neillsville areas. After Francis’s death on June 13, 1983 Gladys moved to Neillsville. She cared deeply for her beloved pet, Ginger. She also loved to go walking, crocheting, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her four sons, David (Donna) McDonald, Larry (Ellie) McDonald, both of Neillsville; Robert (Donna) McDonald, of Wisconsin Rapids; Gary (Charlene) McDonald, of Marshfield; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband; one daughter, Pamela Kay in infancy; two sisters, Edna Miner and Viola Bishop; and one brother, Elijah Roy Bishop who passed away on Dec. 4, 2004. Funeral services for Gladys will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2005 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Steven Wentz will officiate. Providing music will be Kathy Meshnick, organist and David Skiff, soloist. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation time will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2005 at the Gesche Funeral Home.
