Thurs., 28 Dec. 1939 ----Snyder, Nellie (15 Nov. 1856 – 22 Dec. 1939) Mrs. Milton L. Snyder, nee Nellie Parrett, 83, of the town of York, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. G. Hartson, Neillsville, at 5:45 p.m. December 22, 1939, after an illness of only two days with heart trouble. Mrs. Snyder was born to Louis and Maria Parrett November 15, 1856, at Mayville, Wis. She came to Clark County 68 years ago and was married to Milton Snyder August 23, 1876, at Neillsville. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Snyder, three of whom, Mrs. Frank Krejci, Augusta; Mrs. W. G. Hartson, Neillsville, and Guy Snyder, Campbellsport, survive their parents. Mrs. Snyder is also survived by one sister, Mrs. John Dwyer, who has long been ill and at whose besides Mrs. Snyder has spent much time, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Nell Hartson Wuethrich, Greenwood. The home farm where Mr. and Mrs. Snyder began housekeeping, and where they celebrated their golden wedding, was home to her always. Although she rented the farm, she retained a few rooms to which she could go whenever the fancy bade her. Mrs. Snyder made and retained a large group of steadfast friends through her gentle and charitable nature, the large cortege at the last rites and the floral offerings in abundance proving in a small measure the esteem in which she was held. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Jaster Funeral Home, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating, burial being made in the Neillsville Cemetery. The pallbearers were her neighbors: Otto Warren, William Plumer, Jason Gault, Frank Luck, Percy Northup and Franklin Reindel. Out-of-town relatives and friends who came for the rites are: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hart, Mondovi, Wis.; Mrs. Guy Terry, Mrs. May Rahl, Harry Rahl, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dean, all of Augusta. Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Noyes, Mrs. Mina Cole, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bailey, Humbird; Mr. and Mrs. William Neuenfeldt, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Behrens, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rossman and Mrs. Esther Stabnow, Greenwood; Miss Marian Hartson, Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Jos. Merkel, Marshfield. |
