(15 DEC 1874 – 2 OCT 1942) Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home of Miss Clara Huntzicker, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), for Mrs. Hugh R. Schofield, 67, a resident of Chicago for the past 30 years and former resident of Greenwood, who died Oct. 2, 1942 at Chicago. The body was brought to Greenwood Sunday from Chicago, and interment took place in the Greenwood Cemetery. The Rev. Alex J. Abbott, pastor of Grace Methodist Church, Greenwood, had charge of the services, during which Mrs. Chal Perkins and Mrs. George Haesuser sang “Abide With Me,” : My Faith Looks Up to Thee,” and “There is a Wideness in God’s Mercy.” Mrs. John Meng was the accompanist. Pallbearers were Adolph Schwarze, John Drummond, C.C. Hoehne, Fred Huntzicker, Chet Shield, and William Seiger. Mrs. Schofield, the former Emma M. Kloehn, was born Dec. 15, 1874, in Horicon, and received her education in the public schools of Minneapolis and St. Cloud Norma School in Minnesota. She taught in Greenwood for three years, in Wadena, Minn., for a year, and in the public schools of Minneapolis for five years. After her marriage to Dr. Hugh R. Schofield of Greenwood, Aug. 25, 1903, at Minneapolis, Dr. and Mrs. Schofield lived in Greenwood for nine years, Dr. Schofield being a practicing physician. The next 30 years were spent in Chicago. Mrs. Schofield, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, had traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, the Hawaiian Islands, and Cuba. Surviving besides her husband, are a daughter, Mrs. Roberta S. Watters, Chicago, and three sisters, Mrs. Carrie McGovern and Mrs. Joseph Waer, both of Chicago, and Mrs. Marguerite Warriner, California. A brother, Louis M. Kloehn, preceded her in death. |
