----Ruddock, Maude May (2 Jan. 1883 – 9 June 1940)

Miss Maude May Ruddock of Neillsville passed away at the General Hospital, Milwaukee, at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, after an illness of little more than an hour with a stoke of apoplexy.

Miss Ruddock was born in this city January 2, 1883, to Mr. and Mrs. Lyman D. Ruddock and has always made Neillsville her home until a few months ago when she went to Madison and later to Milwaukee to work.

After completing the high school course in this city, Miss Ruddock taught in the rural districts for a time. Later she clerked for many years in the C. C. Sniteman drug store. During recent years she did clerical work, handled collection for various organizations and for the past several months she had been assisting Miss Bessie Kennedy of Milwaukee in caring for her mother.

Always cheerful and naturally witty, Miss Ruddock possessed the rare faculty of transforming gloom into happiness. She was an accomplished musician. Her lovely voice delighted many audiences in past years, when she gave freely of her time and talents for concert and choir work. Also clever in the handling of a number of string instruments, Miss Ruddock was a valuable member of the old Mandolin club of this city.

She is survived by one brother, Frank, of this city, three aunts, Mrs. C. C. Sniteman and Mrs. Hattie Johnson, Neillsville, and Ms. Agnes Stafford, of Waupaca; an uncle, Frank Chase, of Pine Valley, two nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services were held at the Schiller Funeral home at two p.m. Wednesday, Rev. G. W. Longenecker conducting the services. Interment took place in the Ruddock family lot in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ruddock and family of West Allis and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rizner of Chicago were here for the funeral.
