Obit: Roberts, William E. (1893 – 1940)
Surnames: Roberts, Jones Source: Clark County Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) Thurs., 13 June 1940 ----Roberts, William E. (3 Nov. 1893 – 1 June 1940) W. E. Roberts, a former Neillsville resident passed away at his home at Green Bay after an illness of more than a year. Mr. Roberts came here to work for the Reynolds Creamery Company, later working as a car salesman for the Neillsville Garage, and for a time he was director of the Clark County relief department. He was the father of four daughters, Margaret, Lucretia, Marie and Betty. Funeral services were held at his old home a Cambria, where interment took place June third. Source: Clark County Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) Thurs., 20 June 1940 William E. Roberts was born at Cambria, Wisconsin, November 3, 1893, to Griff E. and Margaret A. Roberts. He passed away June 1, 1940, at the age of 46 years. Mr. Roberts was graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1916, with a B. S. Degree in dairy and animal husbandry, with a major in dairy chemistry. After working as a dairy chemist for the Nestle Food Company and Libby, McNeil & Libby for some time, he was promoted to superintendent by the latter firm. For eight years he was manager of the Neillsville Milk Products Company and for two years he was director of Clark County Relief. On June, 1, 1936, he entered the state food service as food inspector, which position he held at the time of his death. About a year ago, Mr. Roberts’ health began to fail and he submitted to an operation at the Mayo clinic, Rochester. He had been confined to his home since the middle of April, 1940. The departed is survived by his wife, Lucretia G. Roberts, and four daughters, Margaret, Lucretia, Marie and Betty Jane, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Griff E. Roberts of Cambria, and a sister, Mrs. John C. Jones, Maywood, Ill. Funeral were held at Cambria June 3, at the Welsh Presbyterian church, With Masonic rites. Burial took place in the Cambria Cemetery.
