Jerome J. Michlig

COLBY -- Jerome J. Michlig 82, of Colby, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby. Monsignor John Malik will officiate. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Jerome was born April 20, 1924, in Edgar to John and Catherine (Handrick) Michlig. He attended Curtiss schools and electrical school in Wausau. He served his country in the U.S. Army from January 1943 to January 1946 in Japan. Jerome and Dorene Mandel were married Sept. 25, 1947. For most of his life he was a licensed cheesemaker for Mandel Cheese Factory, Colby. He enjoyed deer hunting with his brothers, fishing and countless hours tinkering in his shop.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Dorene of Colby; his children Joan (Donald) Lee of Oshkosh and Robert (Jamie) Michlig of Colby; his grandchildren, Ross Michlig of Colby, Grahm Michlig of Colby and Carissa Elandt of Oshkosh; one sister, Mary Ann (Donald) Frane of Colby; two brothers, Hilarian (Mona) Michlig of Dorchester and David (Beverly) Michlig of Abbotsford; and a sister-in-law, Beatrice Michlig.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lorraine Ewert; and one brother, Lavern Michlig.
