History: The Colby Phonograph (25 October 1888)
----Surnames: ENGLEDINGER, FLAIG, HENKEL, INMAN, LOVE, McCORD, MYLREA, SALTER Source: The Tribune-Phonograph, Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, Vol. 46, No. 44, p 4 Bills are out for the Catholic fair, which is to occur at Colby Hall, the 30th and 31st of October. A piece of land will be given away and other articles raffled, a concert the first evening and a social time for the young folds the last evening. Also, a gold headed cane voted to A. Flaig or R. B. Salter. The Love-Inman Company will appear at Colby Hall, this (Thursday) evening. The company comes well recommended by the papers up the line. They say if the people of Colby wish to see a first-class performance they should turn out to see the Love-Inman Co. Reserved seats on sale at the post office. The Catholic Church is fast nearing completion, the masons having finished their work, yesterday. The carpenters and painters will be kept busy for two or three weeks yet. It is a find edifice, a credit to Phillip Henke, contractor and as subject on which we will speak more fully in the near future. Myron H. McCord, ninth district candidate for Member of Congress, and W. H. Mylrea, candidate for District Attorney of Marathon County were in town Thursday. Both gentlemen appeared to enjoy the canvass and were in the very best of spirits. They left on the 1:15 train for Marshfield. Geo. Engeldinger and family have returned from Oregon, where they went a year ago, with the intention of residing, but have come to the conclusion that Wisconsin and Clark County are good enough. |
