----Kubale, Rev. Wenceslaus Charles (17 Sept. 1874 – 8 July 1940)

Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Nenahlo and family recently attended the funeral of her brother, The Very Reverend W. C. Kubale, pastor of the Holy Rosary Catholic church of Kewanee fro 32 years, who died, in his parish home on Monday, July 8, after being stricken with a heart attack while he was celebrating mass the day previous.

Wenceslaus Charles Kubale was born at Reedsville, Wis., September 17, 1874. He attended the schools in that city and then entered St. Francis Seminary. He was ordained a priest on July 31, 1904. He was assigned to St. Josephs’ church at Norman, where he served until 1908 when he went to Kewaunee. He served only two parishes during his 36 years in the priesthood.

In 1921, because of his fine record and the respect in which he was held by clergy and laymen alike, he was appointed dean of Kewaunee County. His silver jubilee was celebrated on July 31, 1939.

He is survived by four brothers and five sisters. Mrs. Nenahlo of the town of Weston being a sister.

More than 150 priests of the Green Bay Diocese and from more distant parishes attended the funeral and took part in the solemn and impressive rites. Hundreds of faithful parishioners and friends, who were unable to enter the crowded church, stood in the church year to hear the mass through loud speakers. Burial was made in a place of honor in the Holy Rosary cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Ward Warden of Elroy visited at the home of her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Poole, the latter part of the week.
