Miss Doris Elaine Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Nelson of Chippewa Falls, became the bride of Hugh D. Horswill, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Horswill, Neillsville, at high noon Sunday, August 18, in a pretty late summer wedding, which was solemnized in the Methodist Church at Chippewa Falls. The ceremony took place before an altar banke3d with gladioli; Rev. A. D. Willett performed the rites.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a simple floor-length dress of ivory chiffon velvet, softly draped at the bodice, with sweetheart neckline, short sleeves and a full flowing skirt. Her finger-tip veil was gathered at the crown with lilies of the valley. She carried a colonial bouquet of swan Sonia gardenias and sweetheart roses.

A beautiful diamond and pearl lavaliere was worn by the bride, this piece of jewelry being a gift from her father to her mother and was worn by the Mrs. Nelson at their wedding.

The brides, sister, Miss Betty Ann Nelson, preceded her to the altar. Miss Nelson was gowned in corn flower blue net over taffeta, styled with a sweet heart neckline, bouffant skirt trimmed with dubonnet velvet. In her hair she wore matching velvet ribbons and carried a colonial bouquet of swan Sonia and sweetheart roses. The groom was attended by Carroll N. Schield of Neillsville, as best man. They wore dark blue suits and boutonnieres. The ushers were William Sprague of Chippewa Falls and John Dorek of Minneapolis.

The bride’s mother wore a blue gown with black accessories and a corsage of gardenias and roses, while the groom’s mother wore a black and white sheer gown with black accessories and a similar corsage.

Preceding the ceremony, Miss Ruth Peterson sang “At Dawning,” and “Bid Me to Love,” accompanied by Mrs. Lawrence Vincent. Following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served at the Krause Café to 50 guests, after which a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents.

For her going-away costume the bride wore a Virginia green crepe dress with brown accessories and a corsage of gardenias. After a trip through northern Wisconsin and Canada, the young couple will be at home at Granton, where the groom teaches.

Mrs. Horswill is a graduate of the Chippewa Falls high school and the Minnesota School of Business. For the past two years she has been employed at Chippewa Falls. Mr. Horswill was graduated from the Neillsville high school and the Eau Claire State Teachers college. During his school years he made a name for himself in the athletic field, making good use of his ability and experience along that line in his work as an instructor.
