Roger M. Jacobson

Roger Malcome Jacobson, 78, of Homosassa, Fla., and Loyal, Wis., died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at the Hospice House of Citrus County, Lecanto, Fla.

Roger was born in Clearbrook, Minn., on Aug. 23, 1928, to Roy and Myrtle (Berg) Jacobson.

He was raised and attended school in Clearbrook. He was a seaman with the U.S. Coast Guard in 1945 on the Great Lakes. He also worked on the grain elevators with his father. He built houses in Ihlen, Minn. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, inducted in March 1951, and was discharged in 1953.

Roger and his wife, Dolores, had moved to Loyal in March 1958 from Minnesota. They had farmed at his Loyal residence for 49 years. Roger had worked for Boson Construction, he created "Jacobson and Sons" Construction business and was a self-employed truck driver. He was a winter resident of Homosassa for 25 years. While he was a "snowbird," he enjoyed time on his computer, carpentry and was an avid ham radio operator.

He was Lutheran.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dolores; three sons, David (Dawn) Jacobson of Greenwood, James (Sue) Jacobson of Loyal, Allen (Joanne) Jacobson of Homosassa; four daughters, Kathy (Denny) Ohm, Jeanie (Lawrie) Beaver, Donna (David) Meyers, Diane (Tim) Schwecke, all of Marshfield; two brothers, Dean (Sharon) Jacobson of Park Rapids, Minn., and Jerry (Rachelle) Jacobson; one sister, DeVona Solberg both of Bagley, Minn.; 16 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, Roy and Myrtle Jacobson; and one great-grandchild.

A celebration of life and gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.

Charles E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, Florida.

Brother, husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa will be lovingly missed.
