HOESER (JOE AND FRIEDA)

George Hoeser was born in bavaria, Germany, in 1857. He came to the U.S.A. when he was 22 years old.

Barbara Goetz was also born in Bavaria, Germany and came here at the age of 15.

They were married in Neillsville and in 1891 purchased 40 acres of land in Section 8, township 25 of the Town of York. Six of these acres were deeded to Phillip and Barbara Goetz, parents of the new Mrs. Barbara Hoeser. Barbara (Goetz) Hoeser's brother was John Goetz and her sister Anna Goetz, both lived in this area called Heintown.

George Hoeser's mother was Magdalena Hoeser who was also the mother of Mary (Walter) - who was Tony Walter, Sr.'s mother, and also the mother of Anna Walter. George Hoeser worked in Hein Mill just down the road. At first they had just a few cows and the women did the milking. The first crops were planted between the trees as there was still much wooded area here.

In 1904, they purchased another 40 acres, west of the present acreage. This land was formerly owned by Wolf Gardner.

Mr. and Mrs. George Hoeser raised eleven children, Rose Schuld, Otto, Bertha Breitbach, Anna Dougherty, Frank, Mary Breitbach, Sophia Hoeser, Theresa Wangen, Katie Hunsel, Joe and Lenus.

Of three children, five are at present deceased and also the parents, George and Barbara.

Bertha Breitbach, Katie Hunsel and Theresa Wangen now reside in Circle, Montana.

Anna Dougherty lives at Pine River, Minnesota.

Lenus lives in the Loyal area.

Joe married the former Frieda Putzel of Greenwood in 1933 and resides on the home farm.

Seven children were born to this union - Clyde of Janesville, Father Jerome of Wausau, AUan in West Bend, Dennis of Madison, Sandra Hoeser of LaCrosse, Thomas of Baker, Oregon and Theresa Hoeser of Wisconsin Rapids.

Joe and Frieda Hooser purchased the farm in 1942. In 1963 they bought another 20 acres in the same area. This was formerly owned by Carl Scheeklman. At this time Anna Goetz, who lived on the six acres deeded to Phillip and Barbara Goetz and was a sister of Mrs. George Hoeser, gave the six acres back to Joe and Frieda - so the land is now 100 acres.
