Snyder, Hamilton L. (30 NOV 1845 - 24 OCT 1918)

Hamilton L. Snyder, one of Clark County's most respected citizens, died at his home in this city (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.), Oct. 24, 1918, after a short illness.

Mr. Snyder was born at Granville, Wis., Nov. 20, 1845. In 1866 he was married to Miss Ella Bailey at West Bend. They live in that vicinity for a time, and 46 years ago moved to Clark County, Wis., settling on a farm in the town of York. About 13 years ago he bought a home in Neillsville and has lived here since. Hamilton Snyder was a man of singularly beautiful character. He was a soul of honor; in his mind was no evil, and he thought no evil of his fellow men. He sought always to make his life useful by industry and fairness to all with whom he came in contact. His ways were governed by the highest standards of a Christian Character. Better than this no man can do.

Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Albion and Loren, who live at Duluth; 11 grandchildren, also two brothers and a sister living in Milwaukee Co. One son, frank, died last January.

The sympathy of this community goes out to the bereaved wife; within the past year her son, Frank, died; a granddaughter, a beautiful girl of 13, was drowned in Duluth Bay and one of her sons lost his home in the great forest fire that swept up the suburbs of the city, all before this final sorrow of the death of her husband came.
