Surnames: KOFFARNUS MILLER ASCHEBROCK LARSON SEEGER NELSON KARSTEN Source: TRIBUNE-RECORD-GLEANER (Loyal, Wis.) 02/05/2003 Koffarnus, Hubert (3 APR 1920 - 26 JAN 2003) Hubert Koffarnus, 82, Curtiss, Clark County, Wis., died on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, North Green Grove. The Rev. Aaron Kangas officiated. Full military rites were accorded. Burial was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmer Hayes, Neland Will, Lee Jensen, Paul Aschebrock, Mikhail Koffarnus and Rolland Knecht. Hubert Koffarnus was born on April 3, 1920, in the town of Colby, to William and Clara (nee Miller) Koffarnus. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corp from March 2, 1942, until Dec. 5, 1945, with 16 months of that time spent in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He married Pearl Aschebrock on Nov. 23, 1943, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, La Crosse. He was a licensed cheesemaker and worked as a field man for various cheese factories for 25 years. He also farmed for 40 years and retired in 1987. He and his wife moved to Curtiss in 1995. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, holding various church offices and serving on the parish council for 36 years. He also held offices for the town of Green Grove for several years. Survivors include his wife, Pearl, Curtiss; two sons, Gerald (Annette) Koffarnus, Unity, and Carlin Koffarnus, Unity; one daughter, Diane (Richard) Larson, Owen; six grandchildren, Natasha Koffarnus, Natalie Koffarnus, Mikhail Koffarnus, Jolene Koffarnus, Jeremy Koffarnus and Barbara (Jeff) Seeger; one great-granddaughter, Savana Rose Seeger; and one sister, Hazel (Richard) Nelson, West Allis. Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Mae Karsten; and seven brothers, Oscar, George, Clarence, Art, Bill, Herman and Laurence Koffarnus. Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, assisted the family with arrangements. |
