Schoelzel, Rath A. (5 APR 1939 - 3 FEB 2003)

Ruth A. Schoelzel, 63, Colby, died on Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, and on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. The Rev. Mark Neumann will officiate. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jack Shortt, Larry Raatz, Darnell Schoelzel, Jim Schoelzel, and grandsons Shawn Schoelzel and Eric Schoelzel.

Ruth Ann Wiersig was born on April 5, 1939, in the town of Colby, Clark County, Wis. to Art and Erna (nee Stock) Wiersig. She attended Colby High School. She married Ron Schoelzel on July 21, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church. They farmed from 1970-77. She was a homemaker and a seamstress. Her interests included crafts, crocheting and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Ron Schoelzel Sr., Colby; four children, Ron (Josie) Schoelzel Jr., Colby, Rod (Sue) Schoelzel, Stevens Point, Robin (Dan) Froeba, Colby, and Randy (Debbie) Schoelzel, Colby; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Dick (Vi) Wiersig, Spencer; and two sisters, Janice (Jack) Shortt, Marshfield, and Connie (Larry) Raatz, Stevens Point.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one grandson, Nicholas Schoelzel.

Community Funeral Home, Colby, is assisting the family with arrangements.
