Cook, Emma (1876 - 5 DEC 1895)

Miss Emma Cook, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cook, departed this life to be with the Lord, on Thursday, Dec. 5, 1895, after a lingering illness of three years, during which the sweetest and simplest of Christian joy and peace was her portion. Though only nineteen years old she has been a devoted Christian for six years, and her constant delight was to repeat the message delivered by the woman who met the Loard at the well: "Com, see a man who told me all things that ever I did; Is not this the Christ?" Though unable to walk alone or help herself for three years, and losing her sight ten months ago, yet she never murmured but had a comforting word from the Lord for everyone at all times. The end was all that the parents could wish for, she simply fell asleep, so easy and peaceful and without moving a muscle.

The funeral services were conducted by John Boucher at the Baptist Church on Sunday at 2 p.m., the interment taking place in the Thorp Village Cemetery.
