Gilman, Albert L. (7 OCT 1873 – 7 MAY 1937)

Funeral services for Albert Lee Gilman were held from the Griebenow-Weirich Funeral Home on Monday, May 10, at 2 o’clock, with Rev. J.H. Rostad officiating. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery. The pallbearers were David Mayo, Julius Johnson, Charles Kosharek, Clarence Mathewson, Peter Riber, and T.F. Adams. Rev. and Mrs. Rostad sand a duet, “No Nigh Affair,” and Mrs. Rostad sang two solos, “No Burdens Yonder” and “Abide With Me.”

Albert Lee Gilman was born Oct. 7, 1873, on a farm near Fairburg, Ill., to Mr. and Mrs. James Gilman. On Sept. 12, 1894, he was united in marriage to Minnie Alice Barrett at Onarga, Ill., after which they moved to a farm and began wedded life. To this union were born two children, a son, Elmer and a daughter, Bertha. The latter died in infancy. Mrs. Gilman passed away in 1902 at their home.

On Aug. 29, 1904, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Vanhove at Pontiac, Ill. They began housekeeping on a farm near Risk, Ill., where they remained until 1912, when they moved to their present home on the farm south of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.). To this union was born two sons, Wilmer and Albert, both of Owen.

Mr. Gilman was a member of the Christian Church of Mendota, Ill. And during the past few years had been an active member of the Gospel Mission of Owen.

Last fall Mr. Gilman was stricken with paralysis and removed to the LeGault Hospital, where he passed away on Friday, May 7, 1937 at the age of 63 years. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, three sons, five grandchildren and four brothers.
