Jacobson, Roger M. (3 AUG 1928 – 26 JAN 2007)

Roger M. Jacobson 78, Homosassa, Fla., and Loyal, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2007, at the Hospice House of Citris County, Lecanto, Fla. A celebration of life and gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.

Roger Malcome Jacobson was born in Clearbrook, Minn., on Aug. 3, 1928 to Roy and Myrtle (nee Berg) Jacobson. He was raised and attended school in Clearbrook. He was a seaman with the United States Coast Guard in 1945 on the Great Lakes. He also worked on the grain elevators with his father. He built houses in Ihlen, Minn. He and his wife, Dolores, moved to Loyal in March 1958 from Minnesota. They had farmed at his Loyal residence for 49 years. He worked for Boson Construction, he created “Jacobson and Sons” construction business, and was a self employed truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War—inducted in March 1951 and was discharged in 1953. He was a winter resident of Homosossa for 25 years. While he was a “snowbird,” he enjoyed time on his computer, carpentry, and was an avid ham radio operator. He was Lutheran. Brother, husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa will be lovingly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dolores; three sons, David (Dawn) Jacobson, Greenwood, James (Sue) Jacobson, Loyal, Allen (Joanne) Jacobson, Homosassa, Fla.; four daughters, Kathy (Denny) Ohm, Marshfield, Jeanie (Lawrie) Beaver, Marshfield, Donna (David) Meyers, Marshfield, and Diane (Tim) Schwecke, Marshfield; two brothers, dean (Sharon) Jacobson, Park Rapids, Minn.; and Jerry (Rachelle) Jacobson, Bagly, Minn.; one sister, DeVona Solberg, Bagley, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his father and mother, Roy and Myrtle Jacobson, and one great-grandchild.

Charles E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, Fla., is assisting the family with arrangements
