Rites Set for Eric Johnson

UNITY--Funeral servises for Eric J. Johnson, 83, Unity, who died Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, will be held this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock in the Trinity Lutheran Church here.

The Rev. C. Vander Stoep will officiate and burial will be made in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 20, 1869, in Melrud, Sweden and remained there until he reached 17, when he came to this country and settled in Minnesota.

After three years, he moved to Phillips where he married Miss Bertha Wieland on Feb. 17, 1893.

They settled on a farm west of Unity in 1894 and remained there until 1944 when they moved to the village. For the past three years they lived with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Edblom.

Mr Johnson served on the Trinity Lutheran Church and village boards.

Besides his wife he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Alma) Edblom, Unity, Mrs. Carl (Esther) Johnson, Portland, Ore., Mrs. Beda Henry, Minneapolis, and Mrs. Victor (Mildred) Dollman, Colby; and two sons, Milton, Detroit, and Leonard, Owen.

Other survivors include two brothers, Carl O. Johnson, Stetsonville, and Gust Johnson, New York; one sister, Mrs. Anna Dahlin, Sweden, seven grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

One sister and brother preceded him in death.
