Bio: Laabs, Fred W.--Promoted (1909)
Source: Dorchester Clark County Herald, 27 Aug., 1909. PROMOTION FOR CLARK COUNTY BOY. Fred W. Laabs of Curtiss, who has been connected with the agricultural branch of the State University, recently became promoted to Junior Dairyman of the Dairy Division of the United States at Washington, D. C. In November, 1908, he started as head cheese instructor in the univesity for the winter term of 12 weeks and proved himself so efficient that upon recommendation of Prof. Farrington he was appointed assistant dairyman for a temporary period, but successfully passing civil service examination his permanent appointment took effect on July 16th.
