(8 MAR 1893 – 20 JUL 1931) Charles August Soderberg passed away at his home in Stanley, Wis. on Monday, July 20th, after a prolonged illness. He was born in Thorp March 8, 1893. On June 2, 1917 he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Solie of Stanley. They made their home in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) several years, and also Marshfield and Colby and last fall moved to Stanley where they later purchased a residence on Third Ave. Besides his widow, he leaves four children, Dorothy 13, Robert 11, Charles 8, and Jack 4. His mother, Mrs. Bertha Soderberg, Thorp; five sisters, Mrs. G. Brown, Stanley; Mrs. Otto Glasshof, Menasha; Mrs. Wm. Glasshof, Mrs. Esther, Warner, Thorp; Mrs. Warren Grace, Marinette; also three brothers, Arthur and Chester of Thorp; and Ted of Marinette. He enlisted in the army in 1918 and was made sergeant at Camp Hancock, Augusta, Ga. The funeral was held on Thursday, July 23rd, at 1:30 p.m., from the residence and from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Rev. J.N. Midtlien officiated, with interment in the Lutheran Cemetery at the Church. Mrs. Pace sang “Softer and Tenderly Jesus is Calling” and “Sometime We’ll Understand.” The funeral being military was very impressive with the escort of Legionnaires from Thorp, Stanley and Boyd assisting. Ladies of the Auxiliary had charge of the beautiful flowers. Relatives and friends from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ted Soderberg, Miss Signa Huss and Mrs. Warren Grace of Marinette; Mrs. Otto Glasshof and son, Menasha; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Solie, Waupaca; Mr. and Mrs. John Thune, Cornell; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Solie, Cornell; Mr. and Mrs. A. Highholdt, Mrs. Carl Hanson and Mrs. Tom Hanson of Eau Claire; Mrs. Walter Baum and two daughters; Frank Velchek, Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. John Burke, boyd; Mrs. Vern Sigler, E. Chicago, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Velchek, Chicago; Guy Heagle, Winona, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Art Sanders, Mr. and Mrs. M. Parkhill and Mrs. J. DeaChamp, of Marshfield; Mrs. Carl Mundt, Colby; and Mrs. H. Cornelius of Abbotsford. |
