Siegienski, Alexandria (1863 – 26 SEP 1931)

Mrs. Simon Siegienski, aged 68, died Sept. 26th, 1931 at their farm residence two miles west and two and one-half miles south of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.)

Alexandria Bielecki was born in Koszoly, Poland in 1863. There she married Simon Siegienski about 40 years ago. Shortly after she and her husband were given the choice to either embrace Schismatic faith or be exiled into Siberia. This alternative was given them by the Russian government which at that time ruled that part of Poland. Instead they decided to leave their mother country and come to America, the land of free religious conviction. They at once settled in Thorp, thus being among the pioneers of this locality.

Two years ago Alexandria’s health began to fail, heart disease being the cause. Her illness became very acute the last two weeks and ended her earthly pilgrimage on the above mentioned date.

She is survived by two brothers, Jos. Bielecki of Worden Township, and Paul, who remained in Poland, her husband Simon, four sons, John and Garfield of this locality, Rev. Joseph of St. Paul, and Stanley, of St. Mary’s Seminary, Baltimore, Md., their daughters: Mrs. Peter Trybowski, Mrs. Alex Powszukiewicz of this place, and Mrs. George Sydejko of Chippewa Falls.

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church, Tuesday, Sept. 29th, at 10 a.m., her son Joseph Siegienski, officiating, assisted by Rev. F.A. Kulig, Rector of St. Hedwig’s, and Rev. P. Roy of St. Paul, as deacon and sub-deacon. Her son Stanley, wo is a theological student for the priesthood, acted as Master of Ceremonies. Other clergy who assisted, and paid their last tribute to a priest’s mother were: Rev. Handsel and Rev. Wojcik of Minneapolis; Rev. A.M. Muckerheide of Thorp; Rev. J. Nowak of Willard; Rev. W. Kolman of Gilman and Rev. Jose. Rapala of Lublin.

The funeral was largely attend. Her remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the nearby cemetery.
