Obit: Doege, Herman F. (1865 – 1932)

(12 MAR 1865 – 22 JUN 1932) Herman Frederick Doege was born March 12, 1865 at Vullchog, Germany. At the age of sixteen years he came to America with his parents and resided at Cleveland, Ohio. Tow years later (1883) they moved to Thorp, Clark Co., Wis., on a piece of land which he made into a farm, which was his home ever since. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen. On June 5, 1894 he was united in marriage to Clara Russell. To them were born eight children, Herman of Withee, Clara Darge of Thorp, Reinhold of Eau Claire, Freda Keller of Curtiss, Alvina Telford of Milwaukee, Ernest and Edwin at home. Besides wife and children, he leaves to mourn his untimely death, one brother, Dr. K.W. Doege of Marshfield, seventeen grandchildren and many friends. Mr. Doege was in failing health for the last two years. After an illness which confined him to his bed for four months, he was called to his Eternal Home June 22, 1932 at 1:30 o’clock. Mr. Doege was a patient at the Marshfield Hospital for the last three months with a lingering illness called Bright’s Disease. The funeral services were held from the home on Saturday afternoon at two o’clock, Rev. Powell of Owen officiating. Interment in Thorp Village Cemetery. The pallbearers were brothers of Mrs. Doege, John of Waukegan, Ill., Wm., Edwin, Henry, George and Alfred of Butternut. There also were seven flower girls, Joyce Rusch, Vera and Mary Buss, Evelyn Pagel, Exilda and Nina Ramberg and Agnella Leiby. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Russell, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Russell and son Ellery, Mrs. Viola Klein, Mrs. Catherine Russell, George, Alfred and Edwin Russell of Butternut, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Telford of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Goeliner of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Keller of Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kolpach of Gilman, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Buss and Ernest Buss of Longwood, and Mrs. Gertrude Keller of Dorchester. |
