Bradway, Caroline (10 Dec. 1873 – 27 March 1940)

Through the courtesy of Mrs. Henry Williams, Granton, and Mrs. Harry Knight, Blissfield, Mich., it is possible for The Press to publish the obituary of Mrs. Harry Bradway, the former Caroline Ludington Lacey of Neillsville. Although Mrs. Bradway’s death occurred some time ago, it has not been made known to old friends of the Ludington family here until recently.

Mrs. Bradway was born to George and Mary Ludington at Black River Falls, December 10, 1873, her given name being Caroline. At the age of 18, she was married to Dr. Irvin Lacey. They established their home in Neillsville where young Dr. Lacey enjoyed a thriving practice. He died eight years alter. The Lacey home where the widow continued to live for about 10 years now is owned by Attorney and Mrs. W. J. Rush.

September 8, 1909, Mrs. Lacey was married to Harry Bradway. The couple started life together on a farm at Dublin, Ind., where she spent the remainder of her life, a period of about 31 years.

Mrs. Bradway had made a host of friends in her new home but never forgot the friends of the earlier day, keeping in close touch with many of them through correspondence and frequent visits. She had visited Mrs. Knight at her home at Blissfield, Mich., for several weeks in 1939. Soon after returning to her home she suffered several strokes from which she never rallied, though she lived until March 27, 1940.

She is survived by her husband, a sister, Mrs. Mary Scoville, and several nieces and nephews.

A picture of George Ludington, father of Mrs. Bradway, who conducted a harness making business here for many years, appeared in the January 23 issue of Clark County Press, with a brief sketch of his life.
