Kindt, August (15 May 1872 – 6 Feb. 1941)

August Kindt of the town of Eaton passed away at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, Thursday, February 6, where he had been a patient since January 31, at the age of 68 years, eight months and 21 days. His death was preceded by a long illness, throughout which he maintained a cheerful disposition, a hopeful spirit and a deep faith. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Globe where he served in the council of elders, holding the office of president for a number of years.

Mr. Kindt was born in Germany, May 15, 1872. At the age of 14 he came to America with his parents. The family settled at Wilton, Wis. On the 9th day of March; 1898, he was united in marriage to Albertina Schendel, making their home there until 1921 when they removed to Clark County, settling on a farm five and one quarter miles south of the Greenwood on Highway 73, where the family has since resided. Mr. and Mrs. Kindt were the parents of ten children, six daughters and four sons, one daughter, Melta, passing away sixteen months ago.

The departed is survived by his wife and nine children, namely; Wanda, Mrs. Vern von Haden, Wilton; Hulda, Mrs. William Hubert, Tomah; Walter, Neillsville, R. 2; Hertha, Mrs. Frank Marg, Greenwood; Olga, Mrs. Archie Timerson, Neillsville; Albert, Sherwood, Wis.; Lillian, Milwaukee and Edwin and Allen, at home; 20 grandchildren and one great grandchild; two brothers at Wilton and a sister who resides at Ontario.

Funeral services were held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Globe, Sunday, following brief services in the home, Rev. Adolph Schumann conducting the rites. The body was interred in the parish cemetery.
