Thurs., 5 June 1941 North Grand Ave. Mrs. Henry Markwardt, daughter, Evelyn, and her mother, Mrs. Appleyard, were called to Janesville Wednesday by the death of a close friend of the family. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Imig drove them over. They returned Friday afternoon. Mrs. Ole Lowe went to Globe Thursday morning to assist in caring for her parents’ graves, and visited the Ferdinand and Fritz Grap families, staying overnight and returning Friday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Evenson were callers at the Ole Lowe home decoration day. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Imig of Rockford, Ill., visited at the Henry Markwardt home Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Melford Catlin and family of Eau Claire spent Decoration day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gullickson. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Radke entertained the following guests in honor of the confirmation of their daughter, Dolores, Sunday; Mr. and Mrs. Gorzelitz and son, Donald, and Everett Radke, town of Grant; Mrs. Emma Schlinkert and son, Clarence, Mrs. K. Haskine and children, Pearl and Milton. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gorzelitz and Mrs. Frank Radke and daughter, Vivian, attended the dance and shower of Mr. and Mrs. Foemmel Sunday night at the Silver Dome. Delores Radke is spending a few days at the Otto Gorzelitz home in Christie. Wilbur Bardell spent Saturday and Sunday with his family in Neillsville. Mrs. Wilbur Smith and Mrs. Nettie Vine spent Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. John Gullickson. Carl Brandenburg of Loyal, called at the Henry Markwardt home Sunday evening on his way to Eau Claire, where he has employment. The Ole Lowe family and Mrs. Julia Dwyer spent Sunday evening with Mrs. Robert Kurth. John Gerguson, who has been staying with his daughter, Mrs. Froehlich, during his illness, was able to go to his home in Shortville Sunday, but will have to come back for treatment. His children, Roy of La Crosse, Leonard of Camas, Wash., and Mrs. Louis Little of Michigan, who were here during his illness, all went back to their homes Sunday.
