Birkholz, Fred (29 JAN 1864 – 8 JAN 1930)

Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.) people were shocked Wednesday morning to learn of the sudden death of Fred Birkholz, prominent resident here and electrician. He was doing some wiring at the A. Nixdorf home and suddenly dropped to the floor from a sudden attack of heart trouble. He was dead when they reached him.

The body was taken to the Fuchsgruber Undertaking Parlors and prepared for burial. Funeral services were held from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church here this morning with Rev. J. Brandt officiating and John Schmitt, Gust Nixdorf, Gust Genrich, Gust Busse, Wilbur Kayhart, Oscar Schroeder, Herman Marquardt and Albert Schultz acting as pallbearers. The body was carried from the home to the church and then taken to Reedsville, Wis., his former home and where his wife is buried, by auto, and another funeral service will be held there on Sunday.

Fred Birkholz was born in West Prausen, Germany, Feb. 29th, 1864, and was 65 years, 10 months and 9 days old at the time of death.

He emigrated to the United States on Sept. 15, 1897 and was married to Ernestine Hause at Maple Grove, Wis. Seven children were born to them, five sons, Alfred, August and Alvin of Ogema, Otto of Goodrich, and Theodore of Chippewa Falls, and two daughters, Lean of Forrest Junction, and Anna of Jefferson, who survive him. His wife died on May 16, 1910.

Mr. Birkholz was treasurer and constable of the town of Morrison, Brown Co. for 12 years and for the past ? years has lived in Dorchester.

Everyone always took their electrical troubles to Fred and he will surely be missed by all, not only for that, but for his bluff, cheery manner that made one feel refreshed after they had talked with him for awhile.

Besides his children, he leaves 4 brothers, and 3 sisters. Mrs. Otto Porath, Wausau; Mrs. Joe Jeteck, and her husband, Milladore; Mrs. L. Boetcher and her husband, Medford; Miss Vera Boetcher, Wausau; and Emil Jeteck, Milladore, were all here.

The Clarion joins a host of friends in offering sincerest sympathy and express deep regret in the loss of this fellow townsman.
