Kranert, Ernestine (23 JAN 1840 – 23 FEB 1930)

Mrs. Ernestine Kranert, for a number of years a resident of Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.), died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Johnson, at Curtiss (Clark Co.), last Sunday noon, Feb. 23rd, 1930.

She had a stroke on Friday but regained consciousness and was in full possession of her faculties before she passed away Sunday noon, at the age of 90 years and 1 month.

The funeral was held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. J. Brandt officiating and A. Sorenson, H. Marquardt, G. Laack, O. Schraeder, A. Baehr and G. Busse acted as pallbearers.

Ernestine Rossberg was born at Dresden, Sachsen, Germany, January 23, 1840 and was married to Mr. J. Kranert and came to the United States in 1882 and to Dorchester country. One daughter was born to them and she had three children, who with their families are her sole survivors. The grandchildren are R. Dake, Mrs. Johnson of Curtiss, and Mrs. Blascha of Wausau. There are fourteen great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kranert, who was of our pioneer stock we are so proud of, kept that brave spirit and unfailing trust in God wo necessary for those who will really succeed in life and in spite of the fact that she was nearly blind, kept her own home until last September when she went to Curtiss to live with her granddaughter and family. She leaves a host of friends in Dorchester who join us in offering sincere sympathy to the bereaved.

Those who were here for the funeral besides R. Dake and family from west of town, were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Blascha and daughter, Ruth, of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Johnson and family, and Mrs. Jake Johnson and son, La Verne of Curtiss.
