Plockelman, Ervin (18 Mar 1895 – 19 MAR 1930)

It is with sad hearts that we chronicle the death of one of our prominent young farmers, Irwin Plockelman, who seemed so fit for many years of great usefulness to his loving family, but death has cut it short in his 35th year. He fell ill about 2 weeks ago with “flu” but complication set in and pneumonia and other trouble followed and he passed away Wednesday evening at 6:15.

He will be buried at 10 o’clock from the St. Louis Catholic Church, Rev. Pitzenberger officiating. We will publish the obituary next week.

Ervin Plockelman died at his home west of the village on Wednesday, March 19th and was buried from St. Louis Catholic Church, Saturday morning at 10 a.m., Rev. Pitzenberger officiating, Conrad Sailor, Eric Beisner, Joe Younker, Raymond and Robert Nachtwey and Alfred Hinke acting as pallbearers.

Ervin Plockelman was born March 18, 1895, and was 35 years, 1 day old. He united in marriage to Rose Engel. Three children were born to them, the oldest, Raymond, preceded the father in death, and Norman, aged 7 and Robert, nearly 3, with the wife are left to mourn. Ervin had an attack of flu and like the rest tried to keep going, for when there is work to be done we feel we can’t stop to rest, but pneumonia fastened itself on him and he was forced to lay down the burden for the call came and he answered. Erwin spent his life in Dorchester, a loving son, not forgetting his aged father, a fine helpful husband and father, a kind neighbor and he will be sadly missed by not only his loved ones, but by a host of friends and neighbors. His prosperous looking farm three miles west shows that Ervin was not afraid to tackle hard work either, but whatever he did must succeed.

Besides his living wife and 2 sons, he leaves to mourn, his aged father, Fred Plockelman, six brother, Henry, Carl, Frank, Ben, Otto, and John, and four sisters, Ella, Mrs. Dorn, Louis, Mrs. E. Gaebler, Lydia, Mrs. A. Abegglen, and Edith, Mrs. Elmer Koehn.

The Clarion and a host of friends offer sincere sympathy to the mourning ones.
