Birch, Pearl (18 July 1872 – 6 Feb. 1938)

Mrs. Pearl Birch, aged 65 years, daughter of Veteran Ira Reed, died Sunday afternoon at her home in the town of Cleveland, after a long illness. The remains were brought to M. Kretschmer’s funeral parlors and prepared for burial. Services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Jewell, of Augusta, officiating. Burial was in the town Cleveland Cemetery.

Pearl Mable Reed was born at Fairchild, July 18, 1872, and died Feb. 6, 1938, at the age of 65 years, 6 months and 19 days.

While a small child her parents moved to New Richmond, and then to Fall Creek, and from there back to Fairchild. There she grew to womanhood, and was married to William Alfred Birch on Jan. 14, 1893. They located near Alma Center where they lived several years. In March, 1919, they located on the farm in Cleveland, which has since been her home. Her husband passed away in May, 1935, and since that time she had kept house and cared for her aged father.

She leaves to mourn her said passing, her father, Ira Reed; two sisters, Mrs. May Langworthy; at home, ad Mrs. John Stahal of Altoona; one brother, Eugene Reed at home; a stepson, Harry Birch of Cleveland, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mae Hurlburt, of Ruby.

Burial services were held at the home last Wednesday afternoon, Rev. O. A. Jewell preaching the sermon, and the interment was in the town of Cleveland Cemetery.
