Nachtwey, Anna (18 FEB 1871 – 6 DEC 1931)

It is with sadness that we write of the death of Mrs. Anton Nachtwey, who passed away at her home in Westboro Sunday evening, Dec. 6th, 1931, high blood pressure was the cause of her death and she had been ill but a few days when she succumbed to the illness. Funeral services were conducted from the St. Louis Catholic Church here (Dorchester, Clark Co., Wis.) Thursday morning at 10 o’clock with the Rev. Paul Pitzenberger officiating. Interment was in the Memorial Cemetery with Joe. Schoeber, Jos. Doessl, F. Hiebsch, Frank Stoiber, Jos. Kronschnabl and John Schmitt acting as pallbearers.

Anna Burkhardt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Burkhardt, was born Feb. 18, 1871 at Keil, Wis., and passed away at the age of 60 years, 9 months and 18 days. When she was six years old her mother died, leaving her to be taken care of by an aunt. Two years later she and her brother were adopted by the Hy War?? Family of Belton, where she lived until her marriage on Sept. 27, 1888, to Anton Nachtwey. In 1898 they moved to Dorchester country and purchased the Mayville Cheese Factory which they owned and operated for 27 years. They moved from here about six years ago to Westboro where they have since made their home.

Nine children were born to this happy union, four of whom preceded their mother in death, and the others, Robert of Bloomer, Charlotte, Mrs. A. Krohn, nee Cecil, of Chicago, Marie and Raymond at home, along with their father, mourn the loss of a loved one. Mrs. Nachtwey also leaves two grandchildren, Ruth Ann Nachtwey and Betty Ann Krohn, and a sister, Mrs. Oscar Peterson of Granton.
