Wis.) 07/12/1946 Purkis, Mr./Mrs. Ted (60th Anniv. – Jul. 1946) Celebrate 60th Wedding Anniversary July ?, 1886, at Spencer at 8:00 o’clock in the evening occurred the marriage of Laura Gregorson and Ted Purkis, a young Englishman who was born at South Brighton. They made their home in the village of Unity and Mr. Purkis worked at the Spandling Mill. Their three older children, Eddie, Bessie and Billy, were born in the village. Later they bought a farm where they lived for twenty seven years and then again returned to the village where they now make their home. Mr. Purkis has served as the clerk of the Town of Unity for twenty-three years and also has served on the Maple Grove School Board for a number of years. Since he came to the village he was? Assessor and Justice of the Peace. These duties he still performs, and ? too. Mrs. Purkis has been afflicted with illness of one kind or another for several years, but is always cheerful and smiling, and carries her 73 summers very well. Mrs. Purkis will be ? in December. Their family consisted of five children, Ed Jr., Oak Park, Ill.; Bessie ?, Milwaukee; Billy, who died in ?, Clyde, on the home farm, and ? of Chicago. They also have had 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, 13 of the latter being born ?. *** The last paragraph is missing due to poor copy quality. *** |
