Stanley Man Killed in Highway Accident

A fatal accident occurred on Saturday, March 10, (2007), at 5:10 a.m. at the intersection of State Highway 29 and County Highway G in the Township of Delmar.

Bruce J. Eslinger, 46, of Stanley was killed on highway 29 as his pickup truck crossed directly into the path of a Food Liner Corp. tractor-trailer driven by Michael V. Coulson, 59, of Menomonie. Mr. Eslinger was traveling north on County Highway G and failed to stop at the stop sign before entering State Highway 29, where he was hit by the west bound semi.

Mr. Eslinger was alone in the pickup and was ejected on impact. Chippewa County Coroner Kay Gerritts pronounced Bruce J. Eslinger dead at the scene.

Bruce is the son of Howard and Dorothy (Gerrits) Eslinger. He graduated from Stanley-Boyd High School in 1978 where he participated in football and wrestling. After graduating, he served in the United States Army and later farmed in Stanley.
