Tischendorf, Gust & Ida (Gold – 13 JUN 1932)

A host of friends, relatives and neighbors gathered at the Joel Winchell home last Sunday to help Mr. and Mrs. Gust Tischendorf, parents of Mrs. Winchell, celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.

The day was ideal for such a celebration and everyone present had a most enjoyable time. The days was spent in visiting, taking pictures, playing cards and dancing. Dinner, supper and midnight lunch were served to approximately 250 guests, who remained to celebrate until the wee small hours.

Mr. and Mrs. Tischendorf are 71 and 75 years old, respectively, and have three daughters and one son living. Their other son passed away eleven years ago. They also have twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom were present to help them celebrate.

Mr. Tischendorf was born April 24, 1861, in Weida, Germany. Mrs. Tischendorf, nee Ida Hahn, was born March 15, 1857, at Schmollen, Saxon-Altenburg, Germany. They were united in marriage at the home of her birth on June 13, 1882. They spent the first several years of married life in Germany until 1891, when they, with their three oldest children, Martha, Mary and Robert, came to the United States and settled at Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.) on March 15 of that year. The Tischendorf’s still occupy the farm they came to over forty years ago. Two children were born to them after coming to Dorchester.

The out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wagler and son, Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Wagler, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hoffman, of Medford; Mr. and Mrs. George Dahl, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Nelson and children, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Larson and Mrs. John Larson and son, Arnold, of Ogema; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tischendorf and family of Minocqua; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Leichtnam and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Kelsey and family, Mr. and Mrs. S. Archambo and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Pupp, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Pupp and family, Mr. and Mrs. Al Nelson and family and Mrs. Anna Nelson, of Abbotsford; Wm. Koehler of Plymouth; and Miss Verna Hess of West Bend.

Pictures of the wedding group and family were taken by J. Hoff of Abbotsford. The Clarion joins the many friends of the Tischendorf’s in offering hearty congratulations on reaching the fiftieth milestone of wedded happiness and wishing them many more years of peace and happiness.
