Distelhorst, Fred & Phillippine (Gold - 28 OCT 1932)

Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Distelhorst, residents of Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.) for many years, were honored last week Friday afternoon at a 4 o’clock services at the Evangelical Peace Church in commemoration of their fiftieth wedding anniversary. The church was beautifully decorated with arches of cut flowers and many potted plants added charm to the scene.

The choir sang two appropriate songs, “Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us: and Sweeter as the Years Go by”, and a duet, “Der Weg Ist So Des” was sung by Rev. J.R. Kalwitz and Mrs. W. Copeland, Sr. An anniversary sermon and a benediction were given by the Rev. Kalwitz. At the end of the service the Women’s Union present Mr. and Mrs. Distelhorst with a gold bread tray in honor of the golden wedding celebration.

After the service at the church the happy couple entertained their children and the guests at a lovely 6 o’clock dinner at the Block Hotel, with covers laid for 20. During the dinner the Misses Irene and Gertrude Laack, nieces of the Distelhorsts, entertained with music.

All of Mr. and Mrs. Distelhorst’s children were present for the celebration and the home rang with laughter and joy as they talked over childhood memories and we are certain Mr. and Mrs. Distelhorst enjoyed every minute of the day. The children are Walter, Bert, Rose, Carl and Fred.

Those attending the celebration dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Distelhorst, Louisville, Ky., Mr. and Mrs. Bert Distelhorst, Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. G.P. Eischeid and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Distelhorst, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Distelhorst, daughter Dorothy Rose, and son, Frederick William, Madison, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Beyer, Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Laack and Rev. J.R. Kalwitz.

Mr. and Mrs. Distelhorst were married in the town of Sheboygan Falls on October 28, 1882 by the Rev. Hy Metz, then professor of the Mission House at Franklin. In 1886 they moved to Dorchester where they have since resided. Mr. Distelhorst owned and operated the first creamery in Dorchester and after many years as successful businessman in different ventures, retired from actual business. Their many friends, whom they have accumulated in their stay here, join with us in congratulating them on attaining the fifty year mark in happy married life and in wishing them many more years of joy and happiness together.
