Ordination Sunday

A local young man is to be ordained to the Christian ministry next Sunday evening.

The ordination service for John M. Michael will take place Sunday evening, March 3rd, at 8:00 o’clock, in the St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church, in this village. The services will be in English.

John M. Michael is a son of John Michael, and a member of the local congregation. He attended the Humbird grade and high school and was graduated from the latter with the class of 1926. In the fall of the same year he enrolled in the freshman class at the Mission House College, located near Plymouth. In the spring of 1930 he was graduated from college, and the following fall entered the theological seminary at the same institution, and graduated in the spring of 1933.

Mr. Michael has accepted a call to the pastorate of the Hudson charge at Hudson, Indiana. He expects to enter upon his work there sometime during March. His many friends join in wishing them success in his work.

The ordination committee consists of Rev. Edwin Vornholdt, of Neillsville, Rev. V. D Weidler, and Elder Jacob Baumgartner.

ORDINATION SERVICE

Using as his text for the ordination sermon at the Reformed Church last Sunday evening, I Cor. 1:23, “But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness;” Rev. Edwin Vornholt spoke to a large congregation, many of them being young folks. The special service was the ordination of John M. Michael into the ministry of the Evangelical and Reformed Church. Following the sermon and a special anthem by the choir, Rev. V. D. Weidler read the ritual of ordination, Mr. Michael subscribing to the ordinances of the ministry of the church.

The Rev. Michael has accepted a call to the charge at Hudson, Ind., and will enter upon the duties of his first pastorate in a few weeks.
