Schwarze, Bertha (9 Aug. 1899 – 30 Nov. 1980)

Greenwood – Mrs. Bertha Schwarze, 81, of 202 S. Crocker died early Sunday morning at her home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel United Church of Christ. The Rev. Alwyn York is to officiate. Burial will be in West Side Cemetery.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

The former Bertha Noah was born Aug. 9, 1899 in Greenwood. On Sept. 10, 1919, she and Arthur Schwarze were married in the town of Mead. She had attended schools in Mead.

She and her husband farmed in the town of Warner. In 1975, they moved to the city of Greenwood. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and its Women’s Guild.

The Schwarzes observed their golden wedding in 1969 and 60th wedding anniversary in 1979.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. LeRoy (Bernice) Fravert of Greenwood; one son, Elmer of Minneapolis, two brothers, Emil of Greenwood and Oscar of Cochrane; two sisters, Mrs. Selma Holman of Grafton and Mrs. Alvina Peters of Milwaukee; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
