May 1882 [Date of newspaper is unknown; using the article’s date in the subject line.] Dorchester – 12 May 1882 Editors Times: We are having considerable sickness in our midst. Scarlet fever is very prevalent among the children, but is not generally fatal; only one death has been recorded from that disease. Mr. Fitzlaff, a farmer living near town, is dead. The funeral was held on Wednesday, when a large number of friends followed him to his last home. Mr. Mattison’s youngest child was buried on the same day. The Breyer Combination played in Central Hall last evening to a good house. Fanchon the Cricket was rendered. Tonight they play the Two Orphans. The acting was excellent and the whole entertainment the best we have had in some time. Mr. E. L. Swarthout has purchased the house known as the Dr.’s and is repairing the same. When completed he will have one of the finest homes in town. S. H. Hugaboom is building a neat frame house on his farm a half mile from “City limits.” Geo. Bramble and family will occupy it for a season. Mr. J. Ody has just completed his house and shoe on R. R. Avenue and now occupies the house, renting the shop to Paul Terrio, our No. 1 Shoemaker. Geo. Smith has closed his saloon Next!
