Dorchester – 16 June 1882

Editors Times: Mr. Clark, of the firm of Clark & Bass, located a few miles west, has met with a great and irreparable loss, in his estimable wife, who died on Wednesday last. Two small children are left motherless. Mrs. Clark, whose maiden name was Cummings, was a former resident of Colby, and, before her marriage, a school teacher. Her many warm friends in this vicinity sympathize deeply with the bereaved family.

Mrs. E. H. Winchester is quite seriously ill. Dr. Phelan is attending her.

Master Louie Hunt, who is suffering from a relapse after scarlet fever, is reported better this a.m. His life has hung by a single thread for two days, and yesterday hope was almost abandoned. Dr. Hubbell, of Medford, is his careful attendant. If Louie is cured great credit will reflect on his physician.

Little Johnnie Parmeter is down with scarlet fever, but is not thought to be dangerously ill.

Miss. Eva Bursell returned home on Saturday last from a three months stay in Augusta. Her many young friends welcome her home.

Only one week more of school, and then the average boy will rejoice, for summer vacations are ever more than welcome. The teachers, W. F. Mason, of Neillsville, and Miss May Orms, of Unity, will be sadly missed by our young people when they have returned to their respective homes.

The McCready Comedy Company are billed to appear at Central Hall Saturday evening, June 17th. They come will recommended.

T. K. Perkins, the photographer, left on Tuesday, for Ashland.

A sad accident occurred last Sunday, a few miles west of this village. A party of young men and boys were swimming, and one boy, about sixteen years old, ventured beyond his depth and drowned before his companions could rescue him. The young man’s name, as near as we can learn was Walter Breisbean. The funeral services on Tuesday were largely attended. His stricken parents have the sympathy of the entire community.
