Dorchester – 21 July 1882

Editors Times: We shall soon rival Brooklyn as a city of churches. The Methodists have stone on the ground and lumber sawed for a church, Rev. Schlung, pastor. The Evangelical church is already commenced on Main Street, Rev. Colander pastor. The Norwegian Baptists are also building off the turnpike, J. J. Lansworth giving a lot. These people have a home missionary at work among them. Six were baptized last Sabbath and twice that number are to be immersed next Sudnay.

The mill is shut down. All hands are at work on the logging train, bringing logs from up the line. At the rate they work the pond will soon be filled.

We not the following improvements:

LaRossier has a new awning in front of his store.

Boulais is building a large addition to his barn.

Foster is treating his fence to a coat of paint.

Personal items are plenty.

Rev. Chas. French, of Fond du Lac, was in town over Sunday.

Miss Lenora Van Dusen is home from Milwaukee. Grant Van Dusen has returned from Dakota.

Miss Lucy Lathan is expected home today from Greenleaf, Wis.

Della Hugaboom has gone to Ashland to work on a large mill, which is being built. His stay at home was short.

Mrs. E. H. Winchester and Miss Lela Evans visited Meford on Wednesday.

There was a pleasant little party at the boarding house last Saturday evening. Our young people “tripped the light fantastic toe” until 11:57 p.m. We hope they were all home at twelve. Of course they did not break the Sabbath for a miss is as good as a mile.

Mrs. Grundy says we are to have a wedding in high life, and we are on tip toe with expectation.
