Obit: Homes, James E. (1865 – 1939) Surnames: HOMES BOWMAN WARNER WILKINS MADISON The Loyal Tribune 30 March 1939 Homes, James E. (14 FEB 1865 – 5 MAR 1939) James Everett Homes was born at Columbus, Columbia County, Wisconsin, February 14, 1865 and passed away at his home in Spokane, Washington March 5, 1939, after an illness of two years. During this time he had been a patient sufferer from leakage of the heart and hardening of the arteries. When he was about two years old his parents moved to Clark County Wisconsin and with their family settled on a farm near Loyal in the Town of Beaver, later on Mr. Homes purchased a farm in the Town of Sherman. On January 1, 1893 J. E. Homes was united in marriage to Miss Edith M. Bowman who preceded him in death, April 23, 1913. To this union one daughter Mae Homes was born. On August 26, 1918 he married Miss Mary Eva Warner; to them one daughter Lelia Homes was born. His widow Mrs. Mary Eva Homes and daughters, Mrs. Edgar Warner (Mae) Nekoosa and Lelia at home in Spokane are left to mourn his departure with two sisters and three brothers who also survive him, (i. e.) Mrs. Hattie Wilkins, Caledonia, Minn., Mrs. Minnie Madison, Michigan, Arthur, Portland, Oregon, Ralph and Guy both at Phoenix, Arizona. Also four grand children, two great grand children and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. Daniel and Eliza Homes were his parents. Four sisters, three brothers and the parents preceded him in death. Mr. Homes was a member of the Nazarene church, a kind thoughtful man, taking much interest in his home and church, always mindful of the comforts of those around him and abroad, lending a helping hand whenever he could and trying to make people happy. The funeral was held March 10, at 1 P. M. at Hasen Jager funeral rooms. Rev. Hugh G. Benner officiated. Singing by two Nazarene friends. Interment was made in the Riverside Cemetery. Pall bearers were Mr. F. Walters, Mr. H. Scott. Mr. Couffle, Mr. E. Eggar, Mr. L. Roberts, Mr. Harmon. Veefkind Cor. |
