Greenwood – 6 Oct. 1882

Editors Times: We have no idea of coming floods, although our young people are marrying and given in marriage.

Last Sabbath, Oct. 1, Fremont Hodges and Miss Mary Carpenter were married by Rev. Geo. C. Andrews, all of this place.

The young couple have grown up in our midst and start at least with the good wishes of those who know them best, and we hope a joyous life voyage is entered upon for them. On the third day following, Dr. H. J. Thomas and Miss Angelia Andrews were united in the bonds of holy wedlock by the Rev. Mr. Ross, of Neillsville. The ceremony was performed at the Reddan House. The Dr. and his fair bride took the evening train for Chicago, where they will spend a week combining both business and pleasure in the same trip. The Dr. is growing in popularity in our midst, and as a practicing physician he had few if any superiors in the state, and his bride, Miss Andrews, has no superior for sterling worth and generous goodness. Her virtues are many and no one in our midst can with them anything else than a bright and sunny journey as they glide down the steam of life. May they look at life as it is; a living reality – a continued existence knowing that thought is a link in binding time to eternity, every movement is a seed who’s garnering shall be our immortal destiny.

We are please again to chronicle the return of Geo. Mead and wife from Oregon. They have just returned a distance of 3000 miles, to Clark County to make their home with us again.

It has been many a day since the writer has welcomed any one back again with more real pleasure than Mrs. Agnes she being a general favorite in our community.

We hear almost daily travelers extolling the merits of our county, and it is not to be wondered at that those who leave, sooner or later return.

The chairman of the Republican Convention, held at Neillsville last Saturday, although he may have been in error in his rulings, has the proud satisfaction of knowing that he did not go into that convention and vote for a straight Democrat for county clerk with many of the republicans did do but are feeling sick of it now.
