Obit: Sheblak, Joseph (1864 – 1936)
Surnames: SHEBLAK KLECKNER LESNIEWSKI REINHER ---Source: THORP COURIER (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 03/12/1936 Sheblak, Joseph (19 MAR 1864 – 1 MAR 1936) Joseph Sheblak, 72, an early settler and respected citizen of the village of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), died at his home here at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 1st, 1936. Deceased was born in Prague, Austria on March 19, 1864, the son of Mathias and Marie Sheblak, and had reached the age of 71 years, 11 months and 11 days. He came with his parents to America when but six weeks old and was brought up in Watertown, Wis. On May 16, 1893 he was united in marriage to Mary Kleckner at Edson (Chippewa Co.), Wis., who with two children, Dora Lesniewski of Milwaukee and Frank of Oconomowoc, survive him. Other living relatives are: two sisters, Mrs. Mary Reinher, Litchville, N.D., and Agnes of Sacramento, Calif., three brothers, Henry of Watertown, Wis., Charley of Sacramento, Calif., and Frank of Edna, Texas, and three grandchildren. Today we miss his kindly smile and friendly greeting; we long in vain to hear the ring of his jovial laughter and to feel again his genial presence. Only yesterday we sat before his bier in the church near the scene of his youthful, happy days. We stood by his open grave as the last sad rites were performed, and as the clay of earth closed above the silent resting place, we said with the poet: “Cold in the dust the perished heart may die, But that which warmed it once can never die.” Funeral rites were conducted by Rev. A.M. Muckerheide at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at 9:30 o’clock last Wednesday morning, the remains being laid to rest in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were: Chas. Possley, Louis Gruszynski, Anton Micke, Anton Papierniak, John Bauernfeind and Richard Brunner. |
