News: Loyal (15 April 1884)
Surnames: Graves, Adams, Draper, Cannon, Borden ---Source: Neillsville Times (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 15 April 1884 Loyal Election has come and gone and the people have again settled down to their usual quietness of mind, excepting the few that got stirred up by poor whisky the eve of election. The straight nomination ticket was elected, which means, “no more selling “rot” weisk – What do you call it? What do you call it without a license?” Graves & Son have started up their saw mill full crew of men to the sum of 20000 ft. per day. They have the largest stock of logs on hand, that has ever been put into the mill in any one winter since they have been doing business here. Mrs. J. Adams is very sick, and not expected to live, yet as long as there is life there is hope. Sugaring is just a booming, that is when the sap runs, among those that are running sugar factories, may be mentioned, Fred Draper and Chat Cannon, under the firm of Draper, Cannon & Co. (the Co. are girls) Norm Borden reports a good start in the sugar trade. |
