Lex, Florence Erma (4 Jan. 1909 – 6 May 1930)

Florence Erma Lex passed away at the Mirndale Sanitarium Tuesday morning at 5:30 A.M., at the age of 21 years, four months and two days, tuberculosis being the cause of her departure. Erma was born in Colby and received both grade and high school education here. She was a member of the Methodist church and of the R.N.A. She lived in Colby all her life until two and one-half years ago when she moved to Milwaukee with her parents. She worked up until last June when her health failed and she was forced to give up her work. All the care and love that skilled physicians and an anxious household could device and apply for her comfort and assistance were brought into play but her spirit took its flight to that home that Christians believe is the fulfillment of the life everlasting. This is the third child to die, the two oldest children having preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her departure her parents, one brother, Orville, and one sister, Lorraine. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church Saturday afternoon, May 10th, at 2:00 o’clock.

Funeral services for Miss Erma Lex, whose death was chronicled in the Phonograph last week, were held at the Methodist church in Colby last Saturday afternoon, Rev. F. Fahlgren officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Many relatives and many of the deceased’s former friends were present which showed, louder than words, the love and esteem in which she was held by those who knew her best. The casket was covered with the most beautiful floral offerings, all of which spoke of peace, purity and immortality.

Norman Orth, Archie Roohr, Noel Schilling, Ervin Meyer, Arthur Wiedenhoeft and Malcolm Lamont acted as pallbearers while the honorary pallbearers were the Misses Erna Stock, Alice Schorer, Alice Roohr, Alvina Heise, Beatrice Eder and Leona Lube. The flower girls were the Misses Elizabeth Sterzinger, Frances Sterzinger, Hazel Allmann, Elsie Witte, Winona Roohr and Hazel Riplinger.

The out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Nick Lex and children, Orville and Lorraine, Milwaukee; Mrs. Margaret O’Connell, Schiller Park, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Stadmueller and children, Neenah; Mr. and Mrs. John Dengen, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Voss, Dorchester; Mrs. J. F. Keleher and Mrs. W. J. Majorbanks, of Chicago; Mrs. Mary Bork, Mrs. Theresa Demgen, Mrs. Lena Lange, Miss Emma Demgen, Oshkosh.
