Plautz, Catherine M. #3 (26 NOV 1914 – 10 MAY 2007)

Catherine M. “Katie” Plautz, 92, Willard, died in the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, on Thursday, May 10, 2007. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Monday, May 14, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. The Rev. Joseph Follmar and the Rev. Michael Mertens co-celebrated the Mass. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Podrovitz, Larry Pakiz, Jerome Krempasky, Dale Smrecek, Paul Plautz and Mark Shain.

Catherine Marie Podrovitz was born on Nov. 26, 1914, in Milwaukee, to Thomas and Martha (nee Jurasovich) Podrovitz. In 1917, her family moved to Tioga, where they purchased a farm. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at Church School. She married John Plautz on Dec. 8, 1930, in Waukegan, Ill. They lived in the Willard area, where she was a homemaker and raised their daughter, Jeanette. Her husband died on Dec. 6, 1973. She continued to live in the Willard area until 1999, at which time she moved to Greenwood. She resided in Greenwood until moving to the Neillsville Retirement Community, formally Angelus, in the fall of 2004. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and its C.C.W. She had many interests but especially enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing and traveling, in her earlier years, she loved her card games and was an avid bingo player.

Survivors include her daughter, Jeanette (Roger) Lange, De Pere; one granddaughter, Gail (Bill) Erskine, Williston, Vt.; nieces; nephews; sisters-in-law; and brothers-in-law.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John; three sisters, Frances Plautz, Marie Farrel, and Anna Robertson; and two brothers, Steve and George Podrovitz.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in her name, will be established at a later date.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
