Surnames: SAMPSON ORTON RADLINGER MATUSZEWSKI TRUDEAU GAUGER KLEIN OESTREICH WESTFALL ---Source: Loyal TRG 16 May 2007 Sampson, Russell (18 JUL 1925 – 11 MAY 2007) Russell “Sammy” Sampson, 81, died on Friday, May 11, 2007, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. The Rev. Karl Rose officiated. Burial was in West Spencer Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ryan Sampson, Brandon Sampson, Jeremy Sampson, Ben Sampson, Joseph Radlinger, and Derek Matuszewski. Honorary pallbearers was Aric Sampson. Russell Sampson was born July 18, 1925, in Marshfield, to Alfred and Bessie (nee Orton) Sampson. He was a graduate of Spencer High School. He was married Donna Westfall on July 29, 1946, in Spencer. She died Oct. 14, 1994. He was a rural postal carrier for the Spencer Post Office. He enjoyed playing cards, following the Spencer Rocket and Wisconsin badger sports teams, and the shows at the Lucille Tack Center. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer Lion’s Club and the Marshfield Eagle’s Club. Survivors include his children, Jerry (Jen) Sampson, Boulder, Colo., Rick Sampson, Galesville, Mark (Shirley) Sampson, Spencer, David (Timi) Sampson, Berthoud, Colo., Kay (Joe) Radlinger, Hudson, and Denise Matuszewski, Wausau, and 13 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Donna, four sisters, Joan Trudeau, Lucille Gauger, Eleanor Klein and Mildred Oestreich; and one son-in-law, John Matuszewski. Maurina/Community Funeral Home, Spencer, assisted the family with arrangements. |
